Tim has been the Alderman for Bridge since winning a by-election in July 2022 following the retirement of Sir Alan Yarrow. Prior to this, he was one of the two Common Councillors since 2017 alongside Keith Bottomley. Tim has had a long history with the City of London. He was educated at the City of London School from the age of 9, and has been the Chair of Governors at the School since 2020. His father, Peter Levene, was Lord Mayor of London in 1998-1999.
Following an early career at Bain in Moscow, Sydney and London, in 1998 Tim left and embarked on what was to become an entrepreneurial career. He pioneered a new retail concept when he opened his first outlet in Canary Wharf. Crussh, has since grown into a 31-store business.
In 1999, Tim joined three former colleagues from Bain & Company and launched Flutter.com. Flutter became one of the highest profile internet businesses in the UK after it merged with Betfair.com in 2001.
Tim is CEO of the UK’s only publicly listed, fintech-focused investment company Augmentum Fintech. After launching the first iteration of the fund in 2010 with the backing of RIT and Lord Rothschild, Tim launched Augmentum Fintech plc on the main market of the London Stock Exchange in 2018.
Tim has sat and currently sits on multiple fintech boards including Interactive Investor, Tide, Zopa, Cushon, Farewill, iwoca and Monese and is highly active in cross-industry initiatives working to boost the UK fintech sector, including the UK Fintech Strategy Group. Tim was made a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2012 and in that same year helped launch the The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Royal Foundation. Tim chaired Royal Foundation’s digital board for 6 years and has since joined the National Gallery’s Digital Board.
