Bridge Ward Club - Norwegian Business Scholars’ Trust

Now in its 20th year, offers an annual scholarship to an outstanding Norwegian scholar at BI Norwegian Business School, Oslo and Bergen, and gives the successful Scholar 6-7 weeks of placements in 3 different types of financial institution in the City of London in the Autumn, before the student goes on to study for a term at CASS City of London Business School.

Bridge Ward Club host the scholar at its events during the time the scholar is in the City and a Certificate is presented. This year’s scholar is Brage Dyrseth.  The scholar of 2019, Sven Lyngholm, played in the Bridge Ward Club Challenge Cup with the ‘Bridge Ward All Stars’ and is acting as liaison with previous scholars.  Sven returned to the City in the autumn of 2020 to take up his place on the Masters course at the London School of Economics.

Assessica AS – Start-up Company Oslo, Norway Equity Analyst July 2024 – Present Founder, equity analyst with fellow students, company research, company reports, DCF valuation 

Bilia AS – Automobile Dealer Oslo, Norway Accountant June 2024 – Present Bookkeeping and auditing 

VITA AS – Cosmetic Store Oslo, Norway Salesperson June 2023 – June 2024 Stock replenishment, operating the cash register, assisting customers, receiving goods 

The Way UB – Entrepreneurship Gjøvik, Norway CEO & Founder August 2022 – May 2023 Youth Enterprise aimed at organizing events to promote inclusivity within the student culture, specifically focusing on the  Norwegian graduation “Russe” tradition. 

  • Generated ticket sales and ended the business in a profit of nearly 4000 NOK. Mainly responsible for the external  communication including coordinating audio, lightning, and venue rentals, and advertising creative content on Instagram and  Facebook @TheWay.UB that generated 300+ social media impressions. 
  • Received the “Best Video Pitch” award from UngtEntreprenørskap Innlandet, donating 1000 NOK to our enterprise 

LEADERSHIP & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT 

BI Student Organization | Karrieredagene, Finance Board, BISO Invest Oslo, Norway Manager, Financial Manager, PR & Communication Manager September 2023 – Present Responsible for holding weekly meetings, leading and collaborating in teams of 6-8, planning events for the students  at the BSc in Finance, attended pitch nights with BISO Invest and responsible for their budgeting 

  • Creating marketing and social media content for the annual Career Days 2024 at BI and developing their website 

Group Leader in a private Norwegian graduation group & Board member of “Russestyret” at GVS Gjøvik, Norway Due to the “Russ” graduation tradition January 2022 – May 2023 Forming a group with friends and became the group leader. Responsible for raising enough money to buy a van, initiating  fundraisers, lighting, sound, and venue rentals for the merch release event 

  • In touch with graphic designer, and responsible for ordering logo design, and merch, clothes, stickers, headbands, sweaters and  pants 
  • Being a board member to the official “Russestyret” at Gjøvik High School, planning events for the students during the May season 

CheerDance & Taekwondo Coach Gjøvik, Norway Instructor August 2018 – June 2019 Teaching elements and choreography to children and youth

The 2024 Scholar was Vilde Kristina Thomassen.
She is a high performing student studying BA Finance at BI Business School in Oslo.
She won the opportunity to become the 2024 Bridge award Club Norwegian Scholar, competing against a number of finalists year students.
She spent a Semester here at Bayes Business School following her Placement at the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments. Back in Norway, she also works part time for one of the largest shipping industry Organisations – Höegh LNG, is Chairman of the Student Union Stock Exchange Group and is also on the Norwegian National Showjumping Team.
The generous donation from Bridge Ward Club members of £750 has helped towards her travel expenses.
Vilde  attended a number of Bridge Ward Events. .
